The Horse Movie series will start with Secretariat (2010), so you will be ready for the 151st Kentucky Derby on May 3! The second movie will be Let it Ride (1989), followed by The Horse Whisper (1998), and Seabiscuit (2003). Speaking of Seabiscuit, he ran his first race in 1936 at the Detroit Fairgrounds. Jim became interested in horse racing as a kid attending races at the Jackson Harness Raceway where he enjoyed seeing the wide variety of characters. In the 1930’s horse racing was the number one spectator sport in the US. Now there are no horse race tracks in Michigan. The last one, Northville Downs, ran their last race in February 2024, after 80 years. Join Jim to learn more about horses and horse racing at the AALL Bohm Movie Series, during May 2025.
