Movement for Wellness

Kristy Clement, Artistic Director & President of Fluence Arts Organization, Albion, MI; Albion College, 2007: Minor in Dance; Case Western Reserve University, 2012: Master of Fine Arts in Contemporary Dance.

Thursdays, 5:30 – 7 p.m., May 1, 8, 22, 29. Studio space, TBD. Class size unlimited.

Movement for Wellness class includes gentle stretching, strengthening and movement exercises and exploration based on dance techniques and kinesiology. This class will lead participants through a survey of the body (torso and hips, shoulders and neck, feet and knees) and try samplings of ballet, modern and other dance techniques, conditioning, and physical therapy exercises gathered from the career and education of a dancer. We will practice alignment, mobility and expression in a way that can be modified for anyone’s body to practice it.

Participants should wear comfortable clothing that allows for one’s own full range of movement and a clean pair of shoes. Socks or slippers may be preferred if we are in a studio. Participants are encouraged to bring water and something to take notes if they wish.
